Wagtails wattle birds silver eyes and lorikeets
Kookaburras cackling in the casuarina trees
Magpies swooping down welcome swallows kiss the ground
Warm smell of blossom on the evening breeze
Black bean tamarind lily pilly maidens blush
Brush cherry pepperberry fragrant sassafras
Rain forest tangled arms chandeliers of flowering palms
Red cedar bleeding heart and pidgeonberry ash
Make a wish make a prayer may they all still be there
There for our children's children to see
Make a wish make a prayer may they all still be there
Mother earth a fragile place running with the human race
Every year gets harder to clear away the stain
Plant the land clear the trees be our own worst enemies
More species lost to the sugar and the grain
Whip bird currawong crimson finch and fairy wren
Long legged egret wades the water lillied lake
Magpies swooping down welcome swallows kiss the ground
Rain forest tangled arms chandeliers of flowering palms
Make a wish make a prayer may they all still be there
There for our children’s children to see
